- The FBM KLCI index gained 7.72 points or 0.46% on Thursday. The Finance Index increased 0.19% to 17217.88 points, the Properties Index up 1.08% to 871.83 points and the Plantation Index rose 1.35% to 6855.27 points. The market traded within a range of 14.56 points between an intra-day high of 1680.78 and a low of 1666.22 during the session.
- Actively traded stocks include TATGIAP-PA, TATGIAP-WA, INARI, SAPNRG, MFLOUR-LR, HUBLINE, ARMADA, KUB, HSI-H4O and EAH. Trading volume increased to 1758.14 mil shares worth RM1222.67 mil as compared to Wednesday’s 1680.89 mil shares worth RM951.04 mil.
- Leading Movers were SIMEPLT (+16 sen to RM4.71), HLFG (+58 sen to RM19.02), TENAGA (+32 sen to RM13.76), MISC (+15 sen to RM6.70) and GENM (+6 sen to RM3.01). Lagging Movers were PMETAL (-20 sen to RM4.52), MAHB (-8 sen to RM8.25), PETDAG (-24 sen to RM25.76), GENTING (-4 sen to RM5.96) and TOPGLOV (-3 sen to RM5.55). Market breadth was negative with 366 gainers as compared to 367 losers.
- The KLCI closed higher at 1675.83 points amid overnight gains in US markets. The performance of our local bourse was lifted by buying interest in heavy counters such as Sime Darby Plantation, Hong Leong Financial Group and Tenaga Nasional.
